The successful consultant will act as the organisation’s internal subject matter expert for Decision Focus, providing functional and technical oversight of the platform and helping ensure the business is deriving maximum value from its investment.
This is not simply a platform administration role. The consultant will be expected to understand how Decision Focus should be configured and utilised within a Lloyd’s Managing Agent, critically assess the current implementation, identify gaps and opportunities for improvement, and provide informed challenge to both internal stakeholders and the software vendor.
Working across Technology, Risk and other business functions, the consultant will help shape the future direction of the platform, assess additional modules and functionality, and ensure that proposed solutions are proportionate, technically appropriate and aligned to the organisation’s wider GRC and technology strategy.

- Act as the organisation’s subject matter expert for Decision Focus, providing functional and technical guidance across the platform
- Review the current implementation and identify gaps between existing functionality, business requirements and the wider capabilities of Decision Focus
- Understand how the platform supports the organisation’s broader governance, risk and compliance framework, including areas such as risk and controls, regulatory oversight, reporting and assurance
- Provide informed challenge around platform configuration, solution design, data flows, integrations and proposed changes
- Act as an intelligent customer when engaging with the Decision Focus vendor, distinguishing between configuration, process, integration and genuine product limitations
- Assess new modules and functionality, providing clear recommendations on their suitability, value and impact
- Translate business, risk and regulatory requirements into clear functional and technical requirements
- Evaluate solution options, considering business need, architecture, integration, cost, complexity and long-term maintainability
- Support the design and delivery of enhancements, integrations and wider platform change
- Understand how Decision Focus interacts with the organisation’s wider technology, data and control environment
- Build effective relationships across Technology, Risk and other relevant functions, acting as a bridge between technical, operational and business stakeholders
- Significant hands-on experience working with Decision Focus is essential
- Strong experience within a Lloyd’s Managing Agent or wider London Market insurance environment
- Strong understanding of how Decision Focus is used to support governance, risk, compliance and assurance processes within an insurance environment
- Detailed knowledge of Decision Focus configuration, modules and capabilities, alongside an understanding of the wider solution architecture surrounding the platform
- Experience operating as a Technical Business Analyst, Solution SME, Platform SME, Technical Consultant or similar
- Strong understanding of systems integration, data flows, solution design and technology change
- Ability to critically assess whether requirements should be addressed through platform configuration, process change, integration or vendor development
- Experience working with and constructively challenging technology vendors
- Strong requirements gathering, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience supporting technology transformation within complex, regulated insurance environments
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Commercially minded and pragmatic, with the ability to balance technical best practice with business need, cost and proportionality
