  • Apache Mills | Design & Marketing Team

Who We Are

Apache Mills is a family-owned and operated company and a global leader in the floor mat industry. We are an innovative, fashion-forward manufacturer committed to creating quality products, incorporating environmentally responsible materials, and delivering fresh, trend-driven designs to the marketplace.

We are looking for a talented, imaginative, and highly motivated Graphic Designer to join our growing in-house Design and Marketing team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative professional who is passionate about design, inspired by emerging trends, and eager to see their ideas come to life in products sold across the retail marketplace.

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking more than someone who can simply execute artwork. We want a creative thinker, problem solver, and trend-driven designer who brings fresh perspectives, original ideas, and a strong sense of design to every project.

The ideal candidate has a natural eye for color, composition, typography, and aesthetics, along with the ability to translate creative direction into compelling, commercially relevant designs.

Candidate should be equally comfortable developing original concepts, interpreting design trends, collaborating with a team, and managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Creativity, initiative, attention to detail, accountability, and a positive team-first attitude are essential to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

Creative Design & Product Development

  • Develop original, innovative, and trend-forward designs for a variety of products, packaging, marketing materials, presentations, and digital applications.
  • Translate creative briefs, trend guides, mood boards, and verbal direction into visually compelling designs.
  • Experience developing artwork for consumer products, home décor, retail, packaging, or related industries is a plus.
  • Technical Skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Strong understanding of typography, color theory, layout, composition, and visual aesthetics.
  • Knowledge of print production, file preparation, and creating accurate, production-ready artwork.
  • Ability to work within established design guidelines while contributing fresh and original concepts.

Professional & Creative Skills

  • Exceptional creativity with the ability to think beyond conventional design solutions.
  • Strong awareness of current and emerging design trends.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret creative direction and execute it accurately.
  • Willingness to accept feedback, collaborate, and continuously improve.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and proactive in solving challenges.
  • Strong sense of ownership, responsibility, and accountability.

What Makes Someone Successful Here?

At Apache Mills, we value designers who are passionate about what they create and take pride in the quality of their work.

Our ideal team member:

  • Thinks Creatively: Brings fresh ideas to the table rather than relying solely on existing concepts.
  • Understands Trends: Recognizes emerging styles and knows how to translate them into commercially appealing designs.
  • Takes Ownership: Accepts responsibility for projects, follows through, and delivers quality work on time.
  • Pays Attention to Detail: Understands that accuracy and execution are just as important as creativity.
  • Works as a Team: Collaborates respectfully, communicates openly, and supports the success of the entire department.
  • Research and interpret emerging trends in home décor, fashion, color, patterns, and consumer preferences.
  • Demonstrate strong creative thinking by bringing new ideas, fresh perspectives, and unique design solutions to the team.
  • Apply a strong understanding of color theory, typography, composition, layout, and design principles.
  • Create production-ready artwork that meets technical specifications and printing requirements.

Collaboration & Creative Execution

  • Collaborate closely with the VP of Design, Senior Designer, and Marketing team to develop and execute creative initiatives.
  • Effectively translate written and verbal concepts into finished artwork while maintaining the intended creative direction.
  • Participate in creative discussions, brainstorming sessions, and design reviews.
  • Present ideas clearly, communicate effectively, and confidently contribute creative recommendations.
  • Welcome constructive feedback, make thoughtful revisions, and maintain a collaborative, solution-oriented attitude.
  • Ensure all designs meet company standards, brand expectations, and project objectives.

Project Management & Accountability

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining creativity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects from initial concept through final execution.
  • Prioritize workload effectively, meet deadlines, and communicate project status proactively.
  • Maintain organized artwork files, design libraries, and internal design databases.
  • Identify opportunities to improve creative processes, workflows, and overall design efficiency.
  • Work independently while remaining an engaged and dependable member of the team.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field, or 3–5 years of equivalent professional design experience.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating original creativity, design versatility, and technical execution.
  • Embraces Feedback: Views constructive criticism as an opportunity to strengthen the final design.
  • Thrives in a Fast-Paced Environment: Stays organized, flexible, and focused while managing competing priorities.

Being a strong team player is not optional. Collaboration, professionalism, and mutual respect are fundamental to our culture.
