Position Summary: Lead product strategy and execution for key areas within athenaCollector that support electronic transactions, payer connectivity, and core practice configuration. This role focuses on improving the setup, maintenance, and monitoring of electronic transactions while reducing manual effort and improving operational efficiency. This position is based in Boston, MA, with an expectation to be in the office one day per week. This role reports to the Product Management Director.
About the Team: The Practice Management Zone supports core revenue cycle workflows that help customers manage their practices effectively and efficiently. The team partners closely with engineering, UX, analytics, and operations to improve product performance, workflow automation, and connectivity across payer and trading partner ecosystems. The team also supports tools and processes used to configure, monitor, and maintain electronic transactions and related practice settings. Its work is focused on helping customers and internal teams deliver stable, scalable revenue cycle operations.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Define and execute product strategy for workflows that support electronic transactions, payer connectivity, and core practice configuration.
- Partner with engineering, operations, UX, analytics, and customer-facing teams to deliver prioritized product initiatives.
- Lead discovery efforts to clarify problems, define requirements, and shape solutions for ambiguous or complex product areas.
- Develop roadmaps and release plans that support measurable improvements in onboarding, enrollment, and transaction health.
- Use data from quantitative and qualitative sources to identify themes, prioritize opportunities, and inform product decisions.
- Establish success metrics, hypotheses, and measurement plans to track product outcomes and business impact.
- Drive execution across multiple teams and manage cross-functional dependencies, tradeoffs, and rollout planning.
- Support product launches through alpha, beta, and general availability in partnership with internal stakeholders.
- Apply AI tools and automation methods in day-to-day product work to improve analysis, planning, documentation, and delivery efficiency.

- Present product direction, recommendations, and updates to stakeholders and leadership.
- Support issue triage and coordination related to product areas within scope.
- Mentor other product managers and contribute to team practices and product craft.
- Help maintain alignment across teams on priorities, risks, and delivery timelines.
- Contribute to process improvements that increase team effectiveness and product quality.
Expected Education & Experience:
- 8+ years of product management experience.
- 4+ years of experience in US healthcare revenue cycle management.
- Experience working on products related to electronic transactions, payer connectivity, or workflow automation.
- Understanding of the US payer landscape and transaction lifecycle requirements.
- Experience using data to define problems, prioritize work, and measure outcomes.
- Experience collaborating with engineering and operational teams to deliver products at scale.
- Experience working across multiple teams or product pods in a cross-functional environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present clearly and build alignment.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in Product Management required.
- Experience with AI-enabled tools or automation in product work preferred.
Expected Compensation
The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates. Base pay is only one part of our competitive Total Rewards package - depending on role eligibility, we offer both short and long-term incentives by way of an annual discretionary bonus plan, variable compensation plan, and equity plans.
