Full description

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee structural steel and precast construction projects throughout Southeastern Wisconsin.

The ideal candidate has a strong background with a structural steel contractor, steel fabricator, or specialty erection company and understands the coordination required between fabrication, field crews, crane operations, suppliers, and general contractors.

Experience with precast erection, miscellaneous metals, and ornamental iron is highly valued. This position will manage projects from initial kickoff through final closeout while maintaining control of schedules, budgets, procurement, quality, safety, and overall project performance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage structural steel and precast projects from kickoff through final completion and closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, procurement plans, manpower forecasts, and equipment logistics.
  • Coordinate Superintendents, field crews, fabrication teams, subcontractors, suppliers, crane operators, and general contractors.
  • Review shop drawings, erection drawings, specifications, contracts, and other project documents.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including budgets, forecasting, labor productivity, billing, cost control, and profitability.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate fabrication schedules, material deliveries, crane requirements, site logistics, and erection sequencing.
  • Work closely with fabrication and field teams to ensure materials and drawings are ready when needed.
  • Identify and resolve fabrication, field, scheduling, and coordination issues while minimizing delays and cost impacts.
  • Lead project meetings and provide regular updates to clients, engineers, general contractors, and company leadership.
  • Coordinate inspections, punch-list completion, project turnover, warranty items, and closeout documentation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, fabricators, suppliers, subcontractors, and trade partners.
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience in structural steel construction.
  • Commercial or industrial structural steel erection experience is required.
  • Experience working for a structural steel contractor, steel fabricator, or specialty erection company is required.
  • Experience with precast concrete erection, miscellaneous metals, or ornamental iron is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication, erection sequencing, procurement, scheduling, site logistics, and project financial management.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, erection drawings, construction documents, specifications, and contracts.
  • Experience managing project budgets, forecasting, subcontractors, billing, change orders, and cost control.
  • Strong understanding of coordination between fabrication, transportation, crane operations, and field erection.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and effectively coordinate office, fabrication, and field teams.
  • Candidates located in or able to reliably commute to Milwaukee and Southeastern Wisconsin are preferred.
  • General commercial construction experience without structural steel project management experience will not be considered.
