Principal Product Manager
Saisystems Health Shelton, Connecticut, United States
Hospitals and Health Care · 201-500 employees
About the role
You will own the end-to-end product strategy, roadmap, and delivery for IlluminatEHR, an operational console for ACOs to manage value-based care workflows. You will partner with cross-functional teams to integrate clinical, operational, and financial data while mentoring junior product staff.
What they look for
Requirements
The role requires 5-7 years of product management experience with a strong background in value-based care, population health, or healthcare analytics. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in building operational software and possess the ability to translate complex regulatory and clinical requirements into clear product specifications.
Full description
What You’ll Do
- Own the product strategy, roadmap, and end-to-end delivery for IlluminatEHR — the Operational and Management product for ACOs, giving ACO leadership a single console to run their value-based care business: identifying and attributing eligible patients, enrolling and planning care, capturing quality and risk data in-workflow, and measuring shared-savings performance.
- Build IlluminatEHR into the system ACOs run their business on, not just a reporting layer — the console where ACO teams manage eligibility and attribution, close care gaps in-workflow, capture HCC/RAF risk data as care is delivered, track admission/discharge/readmission activity, and monitor shared-savings performance across skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, memory care, and CCRCs.
- Own the ACO operational workflow end-to-end — Identify, Plan, Capture, Measure — defining the eligibility and attribution logic, care-gap and quality-measure capture workflows, and shared-savings measurement that ACOs depend on to run their business, not just observe it.
- Determine where IlluminatEHR builds proprietary ACO workflow versus where SaiSystems partners for heavy population-health, claims, and multi-payer benchmarking depth — owning the operational workflow and resisting the urge to rebuild the horizontal VBC platform layer.
- Partner closely with the Director of Product Management and the PM, NavigatEHR to keep the practice and ACO experiences aligned — NavigatEHR surfaces ACO insights and metrics as they matter to the practice, while IlluminatEHR owns the full ACO operational workflow; the insights surfaced by IlluminatEHR should also directly inform and measure the care programs (CCM, BHI, APCM, CoCM, RPM) managed through OrchestratEHR.
- Partner closely with product resources focused on PacEHR, PayEHR, and OrchestratEHR to ensure portfolio functions as a platform facilitating overall customer success and growth across general fee for service, care programs, and value-based care.
- Partner with Principal PM, Data and interoperability to design the data model that facilitates integrations supporting clinical, operational, and financial work streams — enabling ACOs to manage, not just observe, the relationship between care delivery activities, quality outcomes, and value-based reimbursement performance in one console.
- Partner closely with the Associate PM, IlluminatEHR (who reports into Product Operations) on test plans, release documentation, and specification quality — providing product mentorship and building their path toward a full PM role.
- Leverage AI to generate and edit detailed product specifications, acceptance criteria, and user stories. Validate AI-generated specs and outputs against business intent during Mob Elaboration and Mob Construction sessions as part of SaiSystems’ AI-assisted product development lifecycle.
- Define and track product success metrics for IlluminatEHR — ACO quality measure attainment, care gap closure rates, user adoption across ACO roles, time-to-action on eligibility and attribution work, and the platform’s contribution to shared savings performance.
- Develop deep domain expertise in value-based care models, ACO operations, and the unique clinical and regulatory dynamics of serving older adults in congregate care settings — translating that knowledge into product capabilities that differentiate SaiSystems in the market.
- Represent IlluminatEHR in customer advisory sessions, Early Access programs, executive updates, and sales enablement conversations as the domain expert for ACO operations and value-based performance management.
What You Bring
- 5–7 years of product management experience, including demonstrated ownership of a full product line, with meaningful exposure to value-based care, population health, ACO operations, or healthcare analytics platforms.
- Experience building operational or workflow software — not just reporting or analytics tools. IlluminatEHR is a system ACOs run their business on, and you should be comfortable owning the workflows, not just the dashboards on top of them.
- Working knowledge of value-based care models, ACO structures, quality measure frameworks (MIPS, ACO quality programs), risk stratification methodologies, and shared savings mechanics.
- Experience in healthcare IT, EHR/EMR, post-acute or senior care, or a regulated industry is strongly preferred. Familiarity with congregate care settings (SNF, assisted living, memory care) is a significant plus.
- Strong specification-writing skills with the ability to translate complex clinical, regulatory, and operational requirements into clear acceptance criteria and user stories.
- Familiarity with healthcare data concepts: claims data, clinical quality measures, attribution models, risk adjustment (HCC scoring), and the data pipelines that connect them.
- Experience with product analytics tools (Pendo, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar) and a data-driven approach to prioritization.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring or managing a junior PM or Associate PM, with a track record of setting clear expectations and developing talent.
- Strong communication skills with the credibility to represent the product in executive and customer settings — and to translate between the languages of ACO operations, data engineering, and product development.
- Comfort working with SQL or data tools is a plus — you don’t need to build dashboards, but you should be able to speak the language of data teams and understand the analytical models behind VBC performance measurement.
How You Lead
- You think like an ACO operator. You understand that the value of IlluminatEHR is measured not in dashboard views but in whether ACO staff can run eligibility, care-gap, and quality workflows inside the product itself — and whether that work translates into closed care gaps, improved quality scores, and shared savings.
- You know where to build and where to partner. You keep IlluminatEHR focused on the SNF/AL-native ACO workflow SaiSystems is uniquely positioned to own, and you partner for the deep population-health and multi-payer benchmarking layer rather than trying to rebuild it.
- You think in systems. You understand that IlluminatEHR doesn’t exist in isolation — it draws from and connects to PacEHR, PayEHR, and OrchestratEHR, and shares a boundary with NavigatEHR: NavigatEHR shows the practice its ACO-relevant metrics, while IlluminatEHR is where ACO teams run the full value-based care operation. You proactively coordinate across those domains so every console tells a consistent story.
- You invest in the people around you, even without a direct reporting line. You give the Associate PM real ownership, clear feedback, and room to grow toward a full PM role.
- You are detail-oriented in your specifications but pragmatic in your execution — shipping iteratively rather than waiting for perfection, especially in a domain where regulatory timelines and reporting cycles create natural delivery cadences.
- You are comfortable navigating complexity. Value-based care is a domain where clinical, financial, and regulatory concerns intersect constantly, and you bring structure and clarity to that intersection.
- You are customer-minded. You talk to ACO medical directors, care managers, and quality teams, observe how they use data to manage populations, and let those insights drive what you build next.
Why This Role Matters
ACOs serving complex older populations in congregate settings need more than a dashboard — they need an operating system for running their value-based care business: identifying and attributing eligible patients, closing care gaps in-workflow, capturing risk and quality data as care is delivered, and measuring shared-savings performance. IlluminatEHR is being built to be that system: the Operational and Management product that gives ACO leadership a single console to run — not just observe — population health, quality measure performance, care program effectiveness, and financial outcomes across their entire attributed population.
This Principal PM role carries full, end-to-end ownership of the IlluminatEHR product line — including the Associate PM who helps keep it healthy in market. You’ll work alongside the Director of Product Management, who owns the broader OrchestratEHR + IlluminatEHR portfolio strategy, giving you both strategic air cover and a clear product line to lead. If you want to build the operating system that helps ACOs deliver better outcomes for the most vulnerable patient populations — and put your fingerprints on a product that redefines how value-based care is managed in congregate settings — this is the role.
