Overview
Cordoba is a leading engineering and program management firm. We have an upcoming role for a Financial Analyst to join our Energy-Gas sector. The responsibilities include performing financial analysis, supporting regulatory proceedings, preparing financial reports, analyzing budgets and forecasts, and providing actionable insights to support decision-making within gas utility projects and operations. The qualified candidate should be able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and effectively communicate complex financial information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Analyze financial data and identify trends, risks, and opportunities to improve business performance.
- Prepare financial reports, forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses.
- Support regulatory proceedings through data gathering, validation, quality control, and financial analysis.
- Develop testimony support materials, workpapers, exhibits, and financial documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Review budget estimates for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Reconcile financial information from multiple data sources and resolve discrepancies.
- Collaborate with project managers, sector leaders, accounting teams, and operations personnel to provide financial insights and recommendations.
- Create dashboards, financial models, and analytical reports to support monthly, quarterly, and annual business reviews.
- Provide actionable recommendations based on financial analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Support SAP-related activities, including financial reporting, data analysis, project cost tracking, and system maintenance requests.
- Assist with cost allocation analyses, funding reviews, internal controls, and other utility financial compliance requirements.
- Perform other financial analysis and reporting duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, regulatory support, or a related financial role
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency using SAP
- Advanced proficiency using Excel (Pivot Tables, Power Query, Financial Modeling, Dashboards, Charts/Graphs) and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting utility, energy, or gas industry financial operations preferred
- Experience supporting regulatory proceedings, rate cases, or regulatory reporting preferred
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, cost allocation methodologies, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
- Ability to identify issues, develop recommendations, and implement effective solutions
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to present financial information to diverse audiences
- Proactive self-starter with a results-oriented mindset and the capability to assume additional responsibilities
Pay Range: $34.00 - $44.00 per hour
Work Location: Hybrid 3-4 days per week in the Los Angeles, CA office
Visa Sponsorship: Legal authorization to work in the U.S.A. on a full-time basis without sponsorship
Physical Requirements: Ability to pass a pre-authorized physical including a drug-screening and background check
