Regulatory Strategy and Analytics Project Manager Alabama Power Company - Regulatory Policy & Planning This position will be located at APC Corporate Headquarters in Birmingham, AL

POSITION SUMMARY

The Regulatory Strategy and Analytics Project Manager supports the development and execution of Regulatory Affairs initiatives through project management, research, benchmarking, data analysis, performance reporting, meeting preparation, stakeholder coordination, and documentation. Reporting to the Regulatory Strategy and Analytics Manager, the position supports new regulatory requirements, customer rate strategy, annual public meetings, performance reviews, regulatory positioning, and preparation for potential future rate reviews and proceedings. The role uses business intelligence and responsible AI-enabled analytics to deliver accurate, timely, and decision-ready work aligned with Alabama Power Company’s regulatory strategy and business priorities.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Advanced degree, professional certification, or equivalent experience in business, analytics, finance, regulation, highly preferred

Experience:

  • Experience in project management required
  • Experience performing quantitative analysis, benchmarking, peer utility research, industry trend monitoring, performance metric evaluation, or business reporting is required.
  • Experience working in (or in support of) utility regulatory frameworks, operations, financials, planning, and/or policy strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional projects, tracking deliverables, preparing meeting materials, conducting research, and coordinating information from multiple business areas
  • Experience supporting regulatory filings, regulatory meetings, stakeholder engagement activities, policy analysis, customer rate strategy, or compliance-related initiatives preferred
  • Experience preparing executive-level reports, presentations, briefing materials, summaries, project plans, timelines, and follow-up documentation
  • Experience coordinating analytics or AI initiatives, including requirements, testing, documentation, monitoring, and implementation preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Familiarity with Alabama Power's regulatory framework, rate mechanisms including Rates RSE, CNP, state regulatory requirements, Alabama Public Service Commission processes, and stakeholder expectations preferred
  • Strong analytical skills to validate, evaluate, and summarize regulatory, financial, customer, operational, and industry data
  • Ability to translate business questions into analytical plans, dashboards, and clear decision-support insights
  • Working knowledge of data governance, quality, privacy, security, model risk, and responsible AI practices
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments, track deadlines, coordinate deliverables, and follow up on action items
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, presentations, briefing documents, meeting summaries, and other materials for internal and external stakeholder discussions
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, organized, and accurate work products that support regulatory strategy, stakeholder messaging, and executive decision-making
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Finance, Operations, Customer Service, External Affairs, and other business units
  • Ability to identify issues, evaluate options, support recommendations, and appropriately escalate risks
  • Demonstrates accuracy, accountability, confidentiality, sound judgment, and attention to detail under tight deadlines

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support Regulatory Implementation and Project Management: Coordinate regulatory initiatives, project plans, milestones, deliverables, documentation, and leadership updates and stakeholder engagement.
  • Support Industry Research and Benchmarking: Analyze and track regulatory developments, rate cases, peer jurisdictions, industry trends, emerging risks, and customer rate considerations.
  • Analytics and Performance Reporting: Develop metrics, dashboards, forecasts, and executive-ready insights using reliable data and responsible AI practices.
  • Executive and Stakeholder Support: Prepare briefings, presentations, talking points, meeting materials, and follow-up documentation for regulatory and stakeholder engagements.
  • Regulatory Strategy Support: Provide analysis and draft materials supporting regulatory narratives, public-interest justifications, recommendations, messaging, and risk scenarios.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Partner with Rates, Legal, Finance, Customer Service, External Affairs, and other business units to advance customer rate strategy, regulatory policy, and special projects.
