About the Role
Enphase is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer, Embedded Software to serve as a technical authority and organizational leader within our Application Development team. In this high-impact role, you will provide strategic project leadership and architect the development of mission-critical C/C++ applications that power our core energy ecosystem—including smart gateways and home energy management systems.
As a Senior Staff Engineer, you won’t just write code; you will directly lead software engineering teams, define technical roadmaps, and drive end-to-end project execution. A key part of your leadership role will be to understand, introduce, and evolve modern AI workflows into our software development lifecycle—optimizing how our engineering organization codes, tests, and delivers software. In this position, you will bridge the gap between complex energy management theory, cutting-edge development workflows, and high-performance, production-grade Linux software.
What You Will Be Doing
- Team & Project Leadership: Direct software engineering teams through the entire development lifecycle. Define project scope, manage sprints and software delivery timelines, align engineering output with business milestones, and cultivate a high-performing software development culture.
- Technical Leadership & Architecture: Define the high-level architecture for embedded Linux applications, ensuring modularity, scalability, and sub-millisecond execution for power distribution logic.
- AI Workflow Innovation: Evaluate, integrate, and evolve modern AI tools and developer workflows (such as AI-assisted coding, automated unit test generation, and intelligent CI/CD pipelines) to accelerate team velocity and code quality.
- System Design: Lead the design of complex multi-threaded frameworks, IPC mechanisms, and state machines that interface across hardware drivers, networking protocols, and cloud layers.
- Strategic Problem Solving: Drive technical roadmaps, resolve complex architectural bottlenecks, and ensure software scalability matches evolving global grid requirements and next-generation smart-home demands.
What You Need to Bring
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with 12+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Software Leadership: Proven track record of leading software teams and managing complex projects from conceptual architecture to high-volume production deployment.
- Core Software Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in C/C++ and modern software engineering practices within embedded Linux environments.
- Modern Developer Workflows: Deep understanding of how to leverage AI-powered development tools, workflows, and methodologies to optimize coding efficiency, automated testing, and team throughput.
- Systems Architecture: Deep understanding of multi-threaded application design, Inter-Process Communication (IPC), real-time operating constraints, and hardware-to-software abstraction layers.
- Soft Skills: Outstanding mentorship skills with a passion for growing senior engineering talent, coupled with excellent communication skills to align technical strategy with business executives.
