Summary:

The Finance/Business Analyst plays a critical role in supporting strategic decision-making within the Finance and Business Development departments. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this position is central to driving data-driven insights across portfolio management, financial analysis, and business development initiatives. The Analyst will conduct in-depth market research, evaluate investment opportunities, and develop robust financial models to support due diligence and portfolio monitoring. By delivering accurate, timely, and actionable reports, the Analyst ensures the organization maintains strong financial oversight, enhances portfolio performance, and supports sustainable growth across key sectors in Ghana and the broader West African region.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive market research and trend analysis in key sectors relevant to MCL’s operations.
  • Support the Business Development team with data-driven insights and research findings.
  • Participate in cohort screening and follow up on discussions with prospective partners and clients.
  • Assist associates and principals with due diligence activities for new investment opportunities.
  • Prepare draft pre-screening, screening, and due diligence reports for review by the General Manager.
  • Analyze historical financial statements of portfolio companies to assess performance and risk.
  • Develop dynamic financial models for onboarding new portfolio companies using multiple scenario analyses.
  • Perform financial analysis using key ratios and conduct sensitivity analysis for pipeline deals.
  • Design and maintain tools for tracking and monitoring portfolio company performance.
  • Compile and deliver quarterly portfolio monitoring reports to project sponsors.
  • Provide value-added advisory support to portfolio companies to enhance operational and financial outcomes.
  • Conduct monitoring and evaluation activities for assigned portfolio companies.
  • Prepare ESG reports as required by stakeholders or regulatory standards.
  • Generate bank balance and P&L reports as needed for internal and external reporting.
  • Complete monthly and quarterly financial reports and returns for the Board.
  • Execute statutory filings in accordance with directives from the General Manager.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the General Manager.
