About us
Halfords is on a journey - building the future of motoring and cycling and looking for people who want to help shape what comes next. We’re a place for cocreators: people who want to make a real impact, take ownership and be part of something that’s still evolving.
Technology at Halfords is at a turning point. We’re modernising our foundations, sharpening our delivery, and ensuring every technology decision is connected to real commercial and customer outcomes.
We're looking for people who act as trusted advisors to the business, take end-to-end accountability for outcomes, and can balance pace with long-term architectural integrity. Innovation here means practical, scalable solutions, not ideas that stay on whiteboards.
About the role
As a Data Product Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the data strategy for Halfords' Central functions, supporting a major multi-year ERP transformation programme.
Partnering closely with Finance and People team leaders and stakeholders, you will act as the bridge between business priorities and data delivery, ensuring reporting and analytics capabilities evolve alongside the ERP landscape. You'll build trusted relationships across the functions, bringing the credibility and confidence to challenge thinking, influence decision-making, and gain buy-in for new approaches.
This role is focused on driving long-term value rather than short-term delivery. You'll own the data roadmap, prioritising outcomes that support operational performance, financial decision-making and strategic planning. Working across Data, Technology and Central teams, you'll ensure solutions are aligned to the wider transformation agenda and deliver measurable business benefits.
Success in this role requires a combination of strong stakeholder leadership, commercial awareness and data expertise, alongside the patience and resilience to operate effectively within a complex, multi-year transformation environment.
Key responsibilities
- Own the data roadmap for our Central functions (Finance & People), ensuring priorities align with business objectives and the wider ERP transformation programme.
- Partner closely with Finance and People leaders to understand current and future requirements, translating these into clear product priorities and delivery plans.
- Act as the primary data partner for the Finance and People functions, building trusted relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership.
- Lead the definition and delivery of reporting, analytics and data products that improve insight, control and decision-making.
- Work collaboratively across Data, Technology and Central teams to coordinate delivery, manage dependencies and ensure successful implementation.
- Provide business ownership and direction for data initiatives, ensuring investment decisions are linked to measurable commercial outcomes.
- Champion adoption of new reporting capabilities and ways of working, helping stakeholders maximise value from data and technology investments.
- Support governance, prioritisation and change management activities across the ERP transformation programme.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes through automation, standardisation and enhanced use of data.
About you
- Experience operating in a senior data, product, transformation or technology partnering role, with significant exposure to Finance functions.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence, challenge and gain buy-in across complex organisational environments.
- Demonstrable experience working within large-scale, multi year business or technology transformation programmes.
- Strong executive presence, comfortable operating in senior forums and communicating with clarity and confidence.
- Experience developing and managing data roadmaps, balancing strategic objectives with delivery priorities across multi-year programmes.
- Commercially minded, with the ability to articulate the business value of data, reporting and technology investments.
- Patient, resilient and comfortable working through ambiguity and long-term transformation challenges.
- Experience of ERP transformation, migration or upgrade programmes would be highly desirable.
- Knowledge of SAP reporting capabilities and ERP reporting environments would be advantageous.
- Understanding of modern data, BI and analytics platforms, with sufficient technical knowledge to engage effectively with delivery teams and architects.
Reward & benefits
- A fair and competitive salary evaluated against market data, car allowance, annual discretionary bonus scheme, pension, life assurance, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and enhanced family leave.
- Commitment and dedication to your ongoing personal and professional development. We help you to own and grow your potential so you can be at your best in your current role and to support your future career aspirations.
- We offer hybrid working with a blend of working in our Support Centre and from home.
- You will have access to a wealth of employee discounts across the Halfords suite of products and services.
- Wellbeing and inclusion are at the heart of our colleague experience. We offer resources and ongoing support to enhance your wellbeing at work and active Colleague Networks supporting inclusion initiatives across Halfords.
Not sure you meet all the criteria? We'd encourage you to take the wheel and apply anyway! At Halfords we are committed to creating an inclusive workplace for our colleagues. We're an equal opportunities employer and proud to welcome applications from all backgrounds and embrace diversity within our one Halfords Family.
