About Big Cartel…

Big Cartel is an e-commerce platform that gives creators, artists, makers, and small brands from all over the world the power to open their own online stores and make a living doing what they love. Since 2005, we’ve helped people sell over $4 billion of their work while remaining a 100% independent company. With a passionate team of approximately 40 people, we stand as a haven for small brands connecting their passion with opportunity. As we love to say, “you don’t have to sell out to sell online.”

About the Role…

Big Cartel is hiring a Principal Product Manager to lead our Seller Acquisition Product Team. You’ll own the in-product new seller journey across trials, onboarding, shop discovery, and first orders.  Your success will be measured on new seller growth and retention through the first 90 days of the seller lifecycle.

You’ll report directly to the Co-CEO and work across engineering, design, growth and product marketing, data, and customer success.

This role is US-based only, is fully remote, and requires closely aligning work schedules to ensure effective collaboration, communication and foster a great team culture.

In this role you will…

  • Own the strategy and roadmap for the first 90 days of the in-product seller journey from trial through first sales
  • Work cross-functionally with designers, engineers, marketing, and customer success to ship, measure, and iterate quickly
  • Design, run, and interpret experiments and A/B tests to continuously improve conversion and activation across the first 90 days of the customer journey
  • Collaborate with Growth Marketing to build the product levers that make acquisition scale and compound economically including SEO +GEO, paid acquisition, social marketing, engagement triggers, and product-led growth loops.
  • Leverage data and direct customer insights to inform product and cross-functional growth recommendations to accelerate key customers objectives directly tied to the team’s charter
  • Measuring and communicating impact clearly, ensuring everything you do is aligned with the company strategy and priorities and drives measurable seller and business growth.

You’ll be a great fit for this role if…

  • You have owned growth, activation, onboarding, and monetization/conversion for a consumer or self-serve subscription product
  • You have strategic and economic fluency across consumer channel acquisition, unit economics, conversion, activation, retention, CAC, LTV, and cohort analyses.
  • You understand the tensions that exist inside, and between, B2B and B2C products. Our sellers are both: a business, and a person deciding whether to bet on themselves this month.
  • You are an AI-native operator driving research synthesis, competitive teardowns, modeling, reporting, and prototyping with AI to validate an idea before spending engineering time on it.
  • You have strong commercial instincts, always directly connecting product decisions to measurable business outcomes
  • You have passion for e-commerce and making complex yet delightfully simple products
  • You prioritize and personally set and model a rapid pace of execution while making thoughtful tradeoffs that balance creating delightful experiences with the realities of business goals and timelines
  • You have a strong analytical mindset and are comfortable using data to drive decisions, but are also not paralyzed if it doesn’t exist
  • You move between strategic vision and hands-on detail without friction, and you can seamlessly pivot between a scoping conversation with engineering and a channel strategy and data conversation with growth marketing
  • You spend your own time on the few highest-leverage points in a seller's first 90 days and empower a broad, cross-functional team to run the rest of the roadmap autonomously. With AI accelerating engineering, more ships than any one PM can fully shepherd thus you set the priorities and you don't manage every feature and project to the last detail; however, you are accountable for all outcomes
  • You are willing to adopt and live Big Cartel’s values and embrace our high-performance culture leading through modeling behaviors, influence, and high personal accountability to results and behaviors
  • You have 10+ years of product management experience, ideally with meaningful time spent on growth, activation, or subscription conversion

Compensation for the role is $190,000 - $210,000. We also offer our employees a full slate of market-competitive benefits, medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401k with employer match, flexible time off and mental health resources.
