Job Description
The Technical Writer – works across all operational and functional streams within the IFM portfolio to document how service functions operate and the outcomes they are expected to deliver. The role engages with internal stakeholders at multiple levels, facilitates information‑gathering workshops, and translates operational practice into clear, standardised performance statements. This position interacts closely with Operations, Functional Leads, Subject Matter Experts, and internal project teams, supporting consistent internal understanding of service delivery and contributing to an outcomes‑focused operating model.
About you
- Develop clear, structured performance statements that describe how Sodexo’s service functions operate and the outcomes they are expected to deliver.
- Analyse service processes, functional activities, and operational workflows to ensure performance statements accurately reflect how work is performed across the IFM portfolio.
- Facilitate internal workshops and consultation sessions with operational teams, functional leads, and subject matter experts to gather information and validate service descriptions.
- Apply standardised templates, terminology, and documentation conventions to ensure consistency across all operational and functional streams.
- Coordinate internal review cycles, incorporate feedback, and refine documents to align with organisational expectations and service requirements.
- Consolidate diverse operational and functional inputs into concise, consistent, and easy to‑understand performance documentation.
- Ensure performance statements support clear internal understanding of service expectations and contribute to an outcomes-focused operating model.
- Identify opportunities to improve clarity, structure, and alignment within performance documentation as service models evolve.
- Manage internal approvals, maintain version control, and ensure documents are stored and maintained within appropriate internal systems.
Experiences
- Experience producing structured documentation such as procedures, service descriptions, operational content, or performance frameworks within complex service environments.
- Background working within multidisciplinary operational settings (e.g., facilities management, mining, hospitality, logistics, maintenance) or similar environments where service functions interact across multiple streams.
- Demonstrated ability to gather, interpret, and translate operational information through engagement with varied internal stakeholders.
- Experience facilitating workshops, interviews, or informationgathering sessions to clarify requirements and validate content.
- Proven ability to manage multiple documentation streams, coordinate reviews, and maintain version control and quality standards.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to produce clear, structured, outcomefocused documentation.
- Ability to analyse and understand service functions, operational processes, and crossfunctional dependencies.
- Competence in synthesising complex information into concise, practical performance statements.
- High attention to detail, with strong organisation, planning, and documentgovernance discipline.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to confidently engage internal stakeholders across different levels and functions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internal documentation systems such as SharePoint, or similar tools used to manage and maintain controlled documents.
- Understanding of how performance measures, service expectations, and operational outcomes interact within an outcomes focused operating model.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Technical Writing, Communications, Business, Operations Management, or a related discipline (preferred).
- Equivalent experience in technical writing or operational documentation will be considered in place of formal qualifications.
Certifications
- Certificate in Technical Writing, Professional Writing, or similar.
- Certificate IV in Business, Project Management, or Leadership (advantageous).
- Training or micro‑credentials in service design, business analysis, process mapping, or continuous improvement (e.g., Lean or Six Sigma Yellow Belt).
- Any relevant documentation, editing, or content management certification.
