Company Description

VERSANT (Nasdaq: VSNT) is an industry-changing media and entertainment business and home to trusted brands that shape culture, inform audiences, and build lasting connections. It operates across four core markets: political news and opinion, business news and personal finance, golf, and sports and genre entertainment. These markets are served through a powerful portfolio of iconic and innovative brands, including CNBC, MS NOW, USA Network, Golf Channel, Oxygen, E!, SYFY, and Versant's sports division USA Sports, along with complementary digital assets including Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow and GolfPass.

Job Description

Versant Media is seeking a Platform Product Manager to lead shared product platforms across mobile (iOS & Android), web, and connected TV (CTV) experiences that power our consumer media ecosystem across sports, news, and entertainment.

In this role, you will own and evolve foundational platform capabilities that enable consistent, high-quality experiences across devices, brands, and content types. You’ll work closely with engineering, design, and analytics to ensure our consumer platforms are reliable, performant, and extensible—supporting fast iteration by product teams while maintaining a strong technical and experiential foundation.

This role is not focused on editorial tooling or backend streaming infrastructure. Instead, it centers on consumer-facing application platforms: shared frameworks and services, navigation and playback patterns, account and entitlement flows, identity, notifications, performance, accessibility, and cross-platform consistency. These are the building blocks that feature and content teams rely on to deliver great experiences everywhere our

audiences watch and engage.

This role is ideal for a collaborative, detail-oriented product manager with experience in consumer platforms—especially media products—and an appreciation for the unique demands of multi-screen, live, high-traffic, event-driven experiences. Experience with sports and live media is especially valuable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Platform Ownership: Own the roadmap and backlog for shared platform capabilities across mobile, web, and CTV, prioritizing stability, performance, scalability, and developer efficiency.
  • Cross-Team Enablement: Partner with product and engineering teams across sports, news, and entertainment to ensure platform capabilities support consistent, high-quality experiences across devices.
  • Media Experience Support: Enable a broad range of media use cases—including live and on-demand content, personalization, notifications, andaccount/entitlement flows—while accounting for event-driven traffic and usage patterns.
  • Delivery & Execution: Work closely with engineering to plan and deliver platform initiatives, breaking down complex efforts into clear outcomes and driving informed tradeoffs across scope, quality, and timelines.
  • Quality & Reliability: Champion performance, stability, and reliability as core product outcomes, using data and feedback to guide improvements across all platforms.
  • Platform Evolution & Communication: Drive pragmatic, incremental platform improvements, maintain clear documentation, and communicate platform roadmaps and changes to partner teams.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on consumer platforms or applications.
  • Experience working closely with engineering teams on shared foundations across one or more platforms (mobile, web, or CTV).
  • Familiarity with media products, including live and/or on-demand content experiences.
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort reasoning about complex user flows and system interactions.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, analytics, and partner product teams.
  • Experience working in agile delivery environments and managing backlogs using tools like Jira and Confluence.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort operating within structured planning and delivery cadences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on sports media products or other live, event-driven consumer experiences.
  • Experience spanning multiple platforms (e.g., mobile + web, or mobile + CTV).
  • Familiarity with platform concepts such as design systems, shared SDKs, playback frameworks, identity and entitlement systems, or cross-platform navigation patterns.
  • Technical fluency sufficient to engage in architecture discussions and understand platform tradeoffs.
  • Experience balancing platform investment with feature team velocity and delivery needs.
  • Familiarity with performance metrics, release processes, and platform-specific considerations (app stores, device certification, browser behavior, etc.).

Work Style & Culture

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Care deeply about execution quality, reliability, and user experience across devices.
  • Enjoy enabling other teams’ success through strong platforms and clear guardrails.
  • Are pragmatic, detail-oriented, and comfortable making tradeoffs.
  • Focus on improving what exists today rather than waiting for perfect conditions.
  • Take ownership, move work forward independently, and contribute as a strong team player
