Full description

Diraq is building the world's first utility-scale quantum computer. Our scientists, engineers, and business teams need technology that is reliable, secure, and easy to use so they can stay focused on work that matters.

As Diraq grows, we are bringing more of our IT support capability in-house so that support is closer to our people, faster to respond and better connected to the business. We are looking for an IT Support Engineer who enjoys helping people, solving problems, and improving the systems behind the experience.

You will work closely with our IT & Infrastructure Manager and support colleagues in the United States and across Diraq's other locations. You will handle day-to-day support while also contributing to endpoint management, access, documentation, infrastructure activities, and technology rollouts.

This is not a role where success means closing a ticket and moving on. We want someone who takes ownership, explains things clearly and looks for the underlying issue, so the same problem is less likely to happen again. The person will be the main local IT contact mainly for Chicago, Palo Alto, and LA offices

  • Experience in IT support, service desk, desktop support, systems support, or a similar hands-on role.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the patience to work through problems methodically.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 and modern workplace technologies.
  • Practical exposure to identity, device or endpoint administration, ideally including Entra ID and Intune.
  • Experience supporting Windows devices and applications.
  • Clear, friendly communication with people who have different levels of technical confidence.
  • A service mindset without a script. You listen, use judgement, and adapt your support to the person and situation.
  • Good organisation and attention to detail across tickets, access, devices and documentation.
  • A habit of taking ownership and following through rather than passing problems around.
  • Curiosity, sound judgement and a willingness to learn across a broad technology environment.

Useful, but not essential • Experience supporting Linux workstations or users.

  • Exposure to Azure, networking, infrastructure administration, scripting, or automation.
  • Experience in research, engineering, semiconductors, scientific or another deep-tech environment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Defender, Purview, Copilot or AI-enabled workplace tools.
  • Exposure cybersecurity controls, IT service management practices, or regulated environments.

What success looks like • People know where to go for help and feel looked after when something goes wrong.

  • New starters receive the right equipment and access without unnecessary friction.
  • Common issues are resolved quickly, documented clearly, and reduced over time.
  • Device, access, and asset records are dependable.
  • The IT & Infrastructure Manager can rely on you to own operational work and contribute to larger priorities.
  • The in-house support capability becomes more consistent, scalable, and useful as Diraq grows.
  • Provide responsive first- and second-line support across hardware, software, user access, collaboration tools and connectivity.
  • Own issues through resolution, keeping people informed and escalating complex problems to the IT & Infrastructure Manager when needed.
  • Set up new starters for success, including device provisioning, account creation, access, and a smooth first-day technology experience.
  • Support offboarding by coordinating access removal, device return and accurate records.
  • Support Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Exchange, Teams and related workplace technologies.
  • Assist with endpoint management, software deployment, patching, upgrades and device health.
  • Troubleshoot Windows environments and support Linux users where required.
  • Help maintain IT assets, service records, technical documentation, and useful self-service guidance.
  • Assist with networking, connectivity, remote access, meeting-room technology and other day-to-day infrastructure needs.
  • Support security and compliance activities, including access reviews, endpoint controls, and good technology practices.
  • Contribute to system rollouts, process improvements, automation opportunities and other priorities led by the IT & Infrastructure Manager.
  • Listen to how people work, spot recurring friction, and suggest practical ways to make the employee's technology experience better.
