Security Escalations is responsible for driving innovative enhancements that raise the bar for how AWS employees interact with resources, systems, and data. You are someone who loves leading security improvement efforts and is committed to supporting the development and deployment of wide-ranging process improvements. You are passionate about the security of the cloud and you want to solve real business problems. You have experience applying AI and agentic technologies to security engineering workflows, including threat detection, automation, or incident response. You possess strong verbal and written communication skills, can operate independently, and have a consistent track record of delivery. You have a deep understanding of technical concepts and possess a broad understanding of AWS services. You are organized, detail-oriented, and drive towards improved security while advocating for customer needs.

Key job responsibilities

  • Act in a leading role as a Security Bar Raiser. Consistently demonstrate Insist on the Highest Standards by evaluating and assessing security incidents, weighing in on root cause and remediation, and lead the coordination of conversations to craft and implement long-term improvements, at scale.
  • Collaborate across business and service teams to drive, manage and track long-term security enhancement projects. Deliver results, own communication and status reporting.
  • Develop written executive-level reporting on project status and outcomes.
  • Chair a weekly security meeting with members of senior leadership, including contributing to the security discussions, driving the agenda, and capturing follow up items / actions to drive to completion.
  • Identifying functional and technical security requirements by collecting inputs from business, security, and technical teams. Bar raise security posture in partnership with the service teams, identifying thematic issues for improvement and work with the service teams to implement.
  • Leverage AI and agentic technologies to enhance security workflows, including automated threat detection, intelligent escalation triage, and autonomous incident response tooling.
  • Address bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs and balance the business needs versus technical constraints.
  • Partner with multiple teams across multiple locations with varying sets of priorities to ensure a timely delivery of the secure solution.
  • Clarify and drive security objectives as well as establish and maintain clear chains of accountability.
  • Drive Security metrics delivery and improvements.

Basic Qualifications: - 3+ years of work in identifying security issues and risks, and developing mitigation plans experience - 3+ years of (non-internship) scripting, programming, and security code review in common programming languages experience - Knowledge of at least two of the following programming languages: Scala, Java, Python, C/C++, or Go - Experience working in identifying security issues and risks, and developing mitigation plans - Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team - Experience with any combination of the following: application security frameworks, identity and access controls, incident response, mobile security, cloud computing and security, AI security, threat intelligence, and penetration testing

Preferred Qualifications: - Experience applying threat modeling or other risk identification techniques or equivalent - Experience with security in service-oriented architectures/microservices and web services - Experience using AI-powered tools and automation to enhance security engineering workflows (e.g., AI-assisted threat detection, automated triage, or intelligent alerting)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
