AES - DE - FS - Java Spring Microservices

We are seeking experienced Senior Java Developer / Technical Lead to lead and execute a Java platform modernization initiative involving the migration of enterprise applications from Oracle JDK 8 to OpenJDK 17/21. The candidate will be responsible for independently assessing application compatibility, upgrading dependent frameworks, resolving migration issues, and supporting deployments across development, testing, and production environments.

This is primarily a Lift-and-Shift migration initiative driven by WebLogic upgrades and end-of-life (EOL) requirements. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in legacy Java enterprise applications, WebLogic, Spring Framework, Hibernate, EJB, and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the migration of applications from JDK 8 to OpenJDK 17/21.
• Assess and resolve code and dependency compatibility issues.
• Upgrade Spring Framework and Hibernate to supported versions.
• Support SOAP-based services and EJB-based transaction management components.
• Perform code remediation, testing, and validation of migrated applications.
• Manage application build, deployment, and release activities across Dev, Test, and Production environments.
• Utilize Bitbucket for source code management and Jenkins for CI/CD pipeline execution.
• Troubleshoot and resolve migration, deployment, and performance issues.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams during WebLogic upgrades.
• Drive the migration project independently with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in Java application development and support.
• Strong experience with Java 8 and migration to Java 17/21.
• Expertise in SOAP Web Services, EJB, Spring Framework, and Hibernate.
• Experience working with Oracle WebLogic Server in enterprise environments.
• Proficiency in source code management using Bitbucket and CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
• Experience in application modernization, dependency upgrades, and production deployments.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and drive migration activities with minimal supervision.
