Description

DRMP is seeking a motivated Design-Build Senior Project Manager looking to contribute to the continued growth and success of our innovative Alternative Delivery Team. As part of our Alternative Delivery Team, you will have the opportunity to lead multi-discipline engineering teams for the successful delivery of major transportation infrastructure projects in North Carolina and across the southeastern United States. We are teamed with local and national contractors, and together we deliver innovative transportation solutions for our clients.

The Design-Build Senior Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning, execution, and completion of highway design-build projects. This role requires a deep understanding of engineering principles, project management methodologies, and the design-build delivery method. The Senior Project Manager will lead cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Your Primary Responsibilities will include

Project Planning and Development:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation
  • Lead the development of design and construction plans in collaboration with engineering and construction teams
  • Identify and mitigate project risks
  • Maintain project schedules and budgets

Team Leadership:

  • Assemble and lead high-performing multi-discipline project teams, including engineers, designers, and subconsultants
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members
  • Effectively communicate with clients, staff, management, and owner agencies
  • Ability and commitment to be assigned to projects locally and across the southeastern U.S.

Client Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships as the primary contact for construction clients and owner agencies
  • Manage client expectations and ensure client satisfaction
  • Responsible for design-build pursuits in collaboration with contractor partners

Contract Administration & Financial Management:

  • Manage project contracts, including change orders, claims, and dispute resolution
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions
  • Manage subcontractor relationships and performance
  • Monitor project costs and ensure adherence to budgets and deadlines

Quality Assurance:

  • Implement quality control measures to ensure project deliverables meet design and construction standards
  • Identify and resolve quality issues

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in highway infrastructure design 
  • Proven experience in design project management, preferably for design-build projects
  • 5+ years of NCDOT DB experience
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
  • Detail-oriented team player with the ability to contribute to a positive work environment
