Full description

Foremost has an immediate opening for Temporary Full-Time 6-Month Term Mechanical Technical Illustrator/Writer, located at our facility in Calgary, Alberta. This position has the primary responsibility of producing high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of our products. You will work collaboratively with engineers and technical service staff to make our products easier to use. Reporting directly to the Parts and Service Manager, this self-starter should have the following requirements and meet the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Produce high-quality documentation appropriate for its intended audience
  • Work with internal teams on products and documentation requirements
  • Work with internal teams in our manufacturing facility and office to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements
  • Interpreting engineering drawings, parts diagrams, Bill of Material (BOM) or CAD documentation.
  • Develop and support technical governance and strategy documentation related to the program, including policies, frameworks, standards, guidelines, and procedures
  • Ensure that engineering documentation and communications follow established writing rules, company standards, and legal requirements.
  • Perform copy/edit and provide suggestions for improving structure, presentation, and delivery of content to end-users to resolve information gaps and inconsistencies.
  • Create and update technical illustrations, graphics, and job aids as needed.
  • Ensure document content is accurate, concise, and consistent within and across documents.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Post secondary diploma or degree in Technical Writing, Technical Communications, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design Technology
  • Or a combination of experience technical education and demonstrated experience developing documentation for industrial equipment, manufacturing, hydraulics, and drilling equipment parts.
  • Minimum of three to five years of technical illustrator or technical writer experience.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Previous experience as a technical writer for an industrial manufacturer is an asset.
  • Highly motivated and able to work and produce results independently.
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, FrameMaker and Acrobat, and Microsoft Suite (Word and Excel)
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Please note : This position is being offered for a defined six-month term and is not a permanent position. Any extension beyond the initial term would be based on business requirements.
