Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering.

• Proven experience driving DevOps and reliability improvements across multiple teams or projects.

• Strong understanding of cloud-native environments and modern delivery practices.

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and cloud platforms.

• Experience defining operational standards, reliability processes, and engineering best practices.

• Strong understanding of SLI, SLO, KPI, observability, and incident management concepts.

• Ability to collaborate with engineering leaders, architects, and business stakeholders.

• Experience working in large-scale or enterprise environments.

• Fluent German (B2+) and confident communication with stakeholders.

• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have:

• Experience with SRE adoption initiatives.

• Experience introducing Error Budget practices.

• Experience building platform engineering capabilities.

• Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, or Terraform certifications.

• Experience supporting organizational transformation initiatives.

Project description:

We are looking for a Lead DevOps Consultant to support a strategic reliability and DevOps transformation initiative for a leading German organization.

You will help engineering teams improve reliability, standardize operational practices, and introduce scalable ways of working across the organization. This role combines deep technical expertise with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive improvements beyond individual teams.

The position is fully remote within the EU with occasional travel to Nuremberg, Germany (approximately 5-6 days per year).

Main responsibilities:

• Drive DevOps and SRE best practices across multiple engineering teams.

• Define and improve reliability standards, KPIs, SLIs, and SLOs.

• Support the implementation of reliability-focused governance and operational processes.

• Improve incident management and operational excellence practices.

• Collaborate with engineering leadership on platform and reliability initiatives.

• Promote cloud-native and automation-first approaches.

• Act as a trusted advisor on DevOps, SRE, and platform engineering topics.

• Support long-term engineering transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
