Position Description

Imagine Tomorrow with Us | Ata whakaarohia tō āpōpō

At Fonterra Te Mātāpuna, we want everyone to feel they can be themselves.

Whether you're early in your career or ready for your next step, Fonterra offers a unique opportunity to grow with a global dairy co-operative that values care, collaboration, and contribution.

Owned by New Zealand dairy farmers and supported by a dedicated team, we are all working together to create a better future. Imagine tomorrow with us, where your career can grow, and you can create positive change.

About the Opportunity | Mō tēnei tūranga

We have an exciting opportunity for a technically capable, delivery-focused Business Analyst to join our Data & AI team, helping turn complex Finance needs into practical, high-quality data and analytics solutions.

Working across Finance, Data & AI and technology teams, you’ll translate business demand into clear technical requirements and coordinated delivery plans. You’ll help manage end-to-end delivery across Data Engineering, Testing and Visualisation, supporting planning, prioritisation, testing, release and handover while keeping dependencies and competing priorities on track.

You’ll also support the documentation, metadata and data catalogues needed to ensure solutions are well understood, supportable and ready for business handover, while identifying opportunities to improve reliability, automation and delivery efficiency.

Operating in a modern cloud data environment, you’ll work with technologies including Azure, Databricks and Power BI, with the opportunity to explore how AI and emerging technologies can improve the way data and analytics solutions are delivered.

About You | Mōu

You’ll bring a strong combination of technical understanding, delivery capability and practical problem-solving. You may come from a technical Business Analyst, data engineering, analytics or technology delivery background, with the ability to turn complex requirements into clear actions for technical teams.

You’ll also bring:

  • Strong SQL and working knowledge of Python, with experience across modern cloud and data environments, ideally including Azure, Databricks and ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Experience across data modelling, testing, CI/CD and release practices, with the judgement to navigate priorities and keep delivery moving.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI, metadata, data lineage and cataloguing, with a focus on quality and effective handover.
  • A confident communication style, with the ability to ask the right questions, challenge assumptions and build trusted relationships across business and technical teams.

You’ll bring a curious, continuous-improvement mindset and an interest in emerging technologies, including Generative AI and LLMs. Most importantly, you’ll bring a practical delivery focus and the curiosity to keep looking for smarter, more effective ways of working.
