The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority is seeking one (1) dedicated and experienced person to join our Technology and Information team as a Network Administrator I. In this role the Network Administrator I works within a team of network and system administrators. Under general supervision, assist with the installation, maintenance and administration of RTAA networks, servers and systems infrastructure for the data communications and virtual machine environments.
This classification exists to provide first level support of RTAA technologies. These technologies include data networking infrastructure and hardware, virtual computing systems, information security devices, disaster recovery hardware, end-user desktop computing, passenger information systems, and VoIP telephone systems. Support includes implementation, provisioning and maintenance of core information infrastructure and assisting in the creation and maintenance of network and information system documentation.
Examples of Duties
This position works with a team of network administrators to:
- Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of data networks and equipment.
- Identify, test and document fiber-optic and TP infrastructure for network connections.
- Support helpdesk escalations related to networking, Entra ID, Intune, SharePoint and systems administration and escalating further as needed.
- Document break/fix activities and procedures in the service desk system.
- Accurately document and update network infrastructure and device configuration records.
- Provide input on hardware and software for purchasing decisions.
- Build and maintain job knowledge through ongoing technical training and staying current with emerging technologies and applications to identify potential benefits for the RTAA.
- Properly use network test equipment such as OTDR, Optical Loss, and TP copper certification devices.
- Daily monitoring of backup, patching systems.
- Adhere to safe operating procedures set forth by the RTAA and OSHA.
- This position may be deemed to be essential personnel as part of RTAA’s Emergency Response Team and may be required to respond to airport incidents as requested/required.

Entry Salary
$75,406 - $95,012 annually, with opportunity for additional merit-based increases up to a range maximum of $114,617 annually. Initial salary placement will be based upon experience and qualifications.

Required Education / Experience
Associate Degree Path: Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Administration, or a related field, plus 0–2 years of IT support experience.
OR
Experience-Only Path: 2–4 years of progressive IT support or Help Desk experience, with a proven track record of handling Tier 2 or Tier 3 technical escalations.
Required Licensing and/or Certifications
- Preferred: Active industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, or Cisco CCNA).
- Required: Possession of a valid Nevada Driver's License; ability to obtain and maintain eligibility to hold a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time, walk long distances, reach, bend, climb, lift, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds or less. Work in hot or cold environments. Be comfortable working on ladders, lifts, rooftops, and climbing over obstacles to access locations within the airport.
Work is also performed in office environments and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift and transport small carry parcels, packages, and other items.
