Location: London or Coventry Store Support Centre & Home – colleagues go into the office 1-2 days per week on average.

What you'll do

You will play a crucial role in supporting the Finance Manager by providing robust analysis and developing business cases for various services and propositions within Argos, such as Argos Pay, Delivery Income, Gift Cards, and Supplier Direct Fulfilled (SDF). Your responsibilities will include business partnering with the Commercial team and project teams, producing and analysing management reporting and performance data, identifying risks and opportunities through analysis, and supporting forecasting and budgeting activities. Success in this role will require delivering timely and accurate analysis, translating data into valuable insights, and effectively communicating with finance and commercial stakeholders to drive informed decision-making and enhance sales and profitability within Argos.

Who you are

You are a qualified or part-qualified accountant with a strong commercial awareness and a keen interest in driving financial and commercial performance. You possess the ability to analyse and interpret data effectively to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, while also demonstrating proficiency in building and maintaining financial models. With your proactive approach to process improvement, clear communication skills, and curiosity to understand business drivers beyond the numbers, you excel in delivering timely and insightful analysis that informs decision-making and drives business success. Your self-motivation, eagerness to learn, and ability to build relationships across finance and commercial teams enable you to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, making you a valuable asset to the team.

Essential Criteria

  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with demonstrable commercial finance experience, ideally within FMCG/GM/Retail/Financial Services
  • Proven ability to analyse and interpret financial and/or business data to identify trends, risks and opportunities that support decision-making
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and maintaining financial models to support financial analysis, forecasting or performance reporting
  • Evidence of communicating financial insights and recommendations clearly to stakeholders, both verbally and in writing, to support understanding and decision-making
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate outputs to deadlines within a changing business environment
