This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Product Manager, Payments & Checkout based in United States.
This role owns the critical journey between ticket selection and a completed transaction, shaping the checkout experience and payment infrastructure behind every purchase. You will lead initiatives designed to increase checkout conversion and payment authorization while managing fraud exposure and transaction economics. The position combines product strategy, experimentation, data analysis, and external partner management in a high-volume environment. You will work across payment methods, processing, buy-now-pay-later solutions, digital wallets, and fraud and risk capabilities. Your decisions will directly influence transaction growth, average order value, customer experience, and the cost of accepting payments. You will collaborate closely with engineering, design, data, processors, networks, and payment technology partners. The role is open to Senior, Staff, or Principal Product Manager levels, with the scope determined by the candidate's experience and capabilities.

Accountabilities:
- Own the product roadmap for payments and checkout, with a clear focus on transaction growth, conversion, authorization performance, and payment cost efficiency.
- Identify and remove friction throughout the checkout and payment journey while designing and running experiments that improve completion rates.
- Partner with payment processors and networks to reduce transaction declines, improve authorization rates, and develop strategies for recovering failed payments.
- Drive adoption of buy-now-pay-later and alternative payment methods while evaluating opportunities to expand the range of options available at checkout.
- Balance conversion growth with fraud and risk exposure by working with risk tools, rules, and operational partners to protect margins without unnecessarily increasing customer friction.
- Manage and evaluate relationships with payment processors, BNPL providers, wallet partners, and other vendors to improve performance, commercial terms, and the overall cost of payment acceptance.
- Develop strategies to reduce blended payment costs as transaction volume and average order value increase.
- Use data and experimentation to identify payment funnel issues, prioritize opportunities, and measure the business impact of product changes.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated success shipping product changes that have delivered measurable business outcomes.
- Strong cross-functional partnership skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, design, and data teams.
- Experience operating across different levels of product work, from hands-on execution to defining and driving multi-quarter strategy.
- Experience owning payments, checkout, or fraud and risk products within a consumer marketplace, fintech, or high-volume e-commerce environment.
- Strong understanding of payment authorization, processing, and routing mechanics and how they influence conversion and transaction costs.
- Experience managing relationships with payment vendors or processors, including evaluating potential partners and negotiating commercial terms.
- A data-driven approach with comfort using SQL and analytics to diagnose checkout funnel and payment performance issues.
- Strong product judgment, strategic thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance customer experience, growth, risk, and financial objectives.
Benefits:
- The U.S. compensation range for this role is $169,000–$250,000 USD.
