Location: Remote (U.S. based; Montana strongly preferred)

Status: Full-time, regular, FLSA exempt

Reports to: Director of Data Services

Organizational Overview:

Healthcare stakeholders formed Big Sky Care Connect (BSCC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, in 2018 to operate a health information exchange (HIE) in Montana. BSCC enables the secure sharing of vital healthcare information to improve the speed, quality, safety, coordination, and cost of patient care. BSCC serves as a state-wide network and repository for patient health information, including comprehensive clinical and claims data, and offers HIE-related services to the Montana healthcare community, connecting providers, payors, and patients.

Position Overview:

The Data Integration Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing the planning, implementation, and execution of healthcare data integration projects for Big Sky Care Connect. This role serves as the primary point of contact for healthcare organizations, vendors, and internal teams throughout the integration lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with organizational objectives.

The Data Integration Project Manager will oversee interoperability initiatives involving electronic health records (EHRs), healthcare data exchanges, interface development, and onboarding of participating organizations while maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple integration and interoperability projects simultaneously from initiation through completion.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, timelines, and resource allocation strategies.
  • Coordinate onboarding activities for healthcare providers, hospitals, clinics, laboratories, payers, and other participating organizations.
  • Facilitate project meetings and communicate project status, risks, issues, and milestones to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with technical teams, interface engineers, vendors, and client organizations to ensure successful implementation of data exchange solutions.
  • Monitor project scope and manage change requests while maintaining alignment with business objectives.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and dependencies.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational expectations.
  • Track project metrics in Smartsheet and prepare management reports on project performance.
  • Support testing, validation, deployment, and post-implementation activities.
  • Foster strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance project delivery and client onboarding experiences.
  • Maintain documentation related to project plans, implementation activities, and operational procedures.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in healthcare, health information technology, healthcare interoperability, or information exchange environments.
  • Experience managing complex technical implementation projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and external vendors.

 

 Desired Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP).
  • Prior experience in healthcare interoperability interface engines (ie. Rhapsody, Mirth)

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Position works remotely within the United States and requires the ability to effectively use office equipment and technology.

Requires the ability to travel nationally by commercial air to attend meetings, conferences, and partner engagements on an occasional basis.

The position requires the ability to communicate effectively, participate in meetings, and perform work in a professional office or virtual environment. Qualified candidates can perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Authorization & Location Requirements: Incumbent must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. BSCC does not sponsor employment visas. This position is remote within the United States; candidates must reside and perform work within the U.S.
