Position Summary:
The University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) invites qualified candidates to apply for our Financial Analyst (P2) position. The successful candidate will apply growing financial management expertise to support government- and industry sponsored research programs. This role performs a broad range of project control responsibilities with increasing independence, contributes to financial decision making, and ensures adherence to federal and contractual requirements. The Financial Analyst will work collaboratively with program teams and may provide guidance to less experienced staff. Duties and Responsibilities consist of the following.
- Develop, manage, and monitor project budgets across multi year, multi funded programs while ensuring alignment with federal contracting requirements.
- Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial reports, including Funds Status Reports, Manhour Expenditure Reports, burn rate tracking, and related deliverables.
- Track and forecast obligations, expenditures, and funding execution across multiple appropriation categories and contract types.
- Identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities, and present data driven recommendations to program leadership.
- Support contract administration by reviewing Blanket Purchase Orders (BPOs), IDIQs, task orders, and contract modifications; communicate financial impacts to stakeholders.
- Collaborate frequently with program managers, contract administrators, and finance staff to ensure compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and closeout financial processes; may lead portions of these activities with oversight.
- Utilize Costpoint to run reports, validate data accuracy, conduct reconciliations, and support expanded financial analysis.
- Maintain organized, audit ready documentation in accordance with government standards.
- Provide training or guidance to junior analysts and serve as a financial point of contact on assigned projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in budget analysis, financial management, or program control within a government contracting environment.
- Working knowledge of cost reimbursable, fixed price, Time & Materials, and Blanket PO contract structures
- Analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates must be U.S. citizens.
Preferred Qualifications:
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
- Experience supporting DoD or other federal agencies.
- Experience with multi year, multi funded government programs.
- Ability to work with moderate autonomy and manage competing priorities.
- Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced staff.
- Experience using Costpoint or similar ERP systems.
