Job Description
Principal Product Manager, APAC Payments Scheme Integrations
Wise is building the best way to move and manage money across borders. We need someone to help us move money seamlessly in APAC.
We process hundreds of millions of payments for our customers per year. When Wise started we used banks to power our payments. But as we’ve grown we’ve started connecting directly to national payment schemes such as Australia’s NPP, Singapore’s FAST, Philippines' InstaPay, and Japan’s Zengin.
We’re looking for a Product Manager to lead our efforts in integrating and optimising national payment scheme integrations across the APAC region. This role will focus on expanding Wise’s reach through new payment scheme integrations while continuously improving the performance of existing scheme integrations.
What You’ll Do
- Understand customer needs: Build an understanding of how payment schemes impact our customers, and use this understanding to drive product decisions.
- Determine the strategy for Wise’s payment scheme integrations: Work with internal teams, regulators, and payment scheme operators in order to build a multi-year roadmap of which payment scheme functionality Wise should be connected to. Lobby for changes to payment schemes to make our customers' lives better.
- Lead payment scheme integrations: Alongside engineering leads, you’ll be managing technical integrations with payment schemes. This will include working with multiple internal stakeholders, ensuring strong project management is in place, identifying risks and opportunities early and adapting to them.
- Monitor and optimise: Use data to track the performance of integrations and drive continuous improvement.
- Drive operational excellence: Identify and implement improvements to enhance the performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency of the scheme integration.
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring
- Significant product management experience in payments, ideally in finance/fintech.
- 8+ years in the workforce with ideally 5+ years in product management or product-management adjacent roles.
- For those with material experience outside of product management we still require a minimum of 3+ years in a senior product manager role
- A knack for project management: This is not a project manager role, but payment scheme integrations have many moving parts and you will be accountable for the team’s success.
- Analytical mindset: Ability to use data to make informed decisions and track performance metrics.
- Customer focus: A passion for building products that solve real customer problems.
- A strong track record shipping customer-facing products end-to-end, not just writing strategy.
- Excellent structured problem solving: you can break down ambiguous, multi-stakeholder problems and create a practical path to impact.
- Strong analytical skills: you can define good metrics, interrogate data, work with SQL (or similar), and make trade-offs based on evidence.
- Enough technical depth to work with engineers on systems, integrations, reliability, observability, and platform design.
- Strong customer focus, including a habit of using customer research, support insights, funnel data, and operational feedback to shape product decisions.
- Clear, concise communication and the ability to influence senior stakeholders without relying on authority.
- High ownership, strong attention to detail, and willingness to roll up your sleeves,
Nice to Have
- Experience working with payment scheme integrations
- Experience in fintech or a high-growth tech company.
- The ability to write SQL
- Experience launching products across multiple countries or adapting global platforms to local market requirements.
- Experience working with distributed teams across product, engineering, compliance, operations, and regional leadership.
Location
This role is based in Hyderabad, working closely with teams across Singapore, other APAC markets and Wise’s global product and engineering hubs.
