What You Will Do:

At Independent Software, as a Network Engineer Level 2, you will configure, deploy, and support enterprise network infrastructure using Cisco and Arista technologies. You will support operational networks, including firewall and crypto equipment, while helping maintain network performance, security, and SSP/STE/STN compliance.

You will work as part of a small technical team supporting systems both locally and at remote locations. This position includes hands-on lab configuration, fielding and upgrading network equipment, resolving JIRA tickets, and providing ongoing operational support.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Configure, deploy, sustain, and troubleshoot Cisco and Arista network infrastructure
  • Support operational networks, including firewall and crypto equipment
  • Configure and test new systems and network upgrades in lab environments prior to deployment
  • Support equipment fielding, cutovers, upgrades, and infrastructure modernization efforts
  • Perform SSP compliance activities and support STE/STN security requirements
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network performance, connectivity, and operational issues
  • Work through technical issues and service requests using JIRA or similar ticketing systems
  • Maintain network configurations, documentation, diagrams, and compliance records
  • Provide remote and in-person support for systems at multiple locations
  • Participate in on-call operational support once fully trained
  • Travel occasionally, including OCONUS travel, as mission requirements dictate

Required Skills and Qualifications:  • Network Engineering experience appropriate for the Level 2 labor category

  • Strong Cisco and Arista configuration and sustainment experience
  • Experience supporting enterprise network environments
  • Familiarity with LatteArt and supporting SSP and STE/STN compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of network security, routing, switching, firewalls, and related network technologies
  • Strong network troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in lab and operational environments
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to travel occasionally, including OCONUS, and participate in on-call support once trained

Desired Skills  • Call Manager experience

  • Cisco ASA Firewall experience
  • Experience automating repetitive networking, inventory collection, or compliance-related tasks
  • Experience with cloud environments, hyperconverged infrastructure, and/or containerized environments

Education and Experience:  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security Engineering, or related field and six (6) years of relevant network engineering experience; OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline and eight (8) years of relevant network engineering experience; OR
  • Twelve (12) years of relevant network engineering experience with an industry-recognized certification may be substituted in lieu of a degree

Certifications: 

Current DoD IAT Level II certification required

Clearance Requirement:  • Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
